With reference to the two chests Bengal

Opium seized at Suntong, regarding which you wired to H. B. M.'s Chargé d'Affaires on the 8th. instant we are informed by the owner that the opium has not yet been released by the Kwong Wig Yuen General Office.

We shall therefore feel much obliged if H.

E. the Officer Administering the Government will kindly ask H. B. M.'s Consul-General at Canton to demand the immediate release of these two chests as well as the 20 balls seized at

Samshui.
